Losing and keeping

Journal Entry: Thu Nov 29, 2012, 9:53 AM

I picked my car up like a toy
and tossed it in the sea.
If I ever need a ride
I know where it will be.

A creature with a fearsome beak
was standing on the beach.
I was not scared, I simply thought
I should stay out of reach.

I heard a seagull cry for help
and got there just in time.
Are thin white men with crewcuts
always prone to crime?

I made an apple float but then
I could not get it down.
I started to feel hungry,
so I went to town.

The apple floated clean away,
I never got it back.
Some guy on a roof, I think,
ate it for a snack.

This is a world of tension,
we rise and face the day,
keeping it together
even if we fray.

Witty as always, sad, too. But hopeful. I do rely on you for that!
(Thanks for incorporating my piece.)

You're welcome and thanks. I do regard being hopeful (most of the time!) as part of my job.

What a gray day this is - but B. has it off, we are enjoying it.

A good grey day is a thing of beauty (sometimes). Brings to mind Richard and Mimi Farina's piece, "Celebration for a Gray Day."
