It seems that the X-type engine has overexposed the film, leaving no details visible; we're going to have to get it out of the room and do the mammogram again.

It happens all the time, I told them the V-type engine was fine and there was no need to upgrade but do they ever listen?

What is an x-type machine?

[I wish I had scraps of film lying around on my desk!]

It's some sort of internal combustion engine I believe.

Film on the desk, yes, that's how far back I go - to when that was the only kind of camera there was, and that's how old this film is!

I really wish I had a film camera. I crave the tactile experience, rather than instant gratification. Do you know of any good ones that are still rather cheap (and not the disposable store bought ones)?

It isn't exactly "good" but a number of dA photographers like using the Holga: [link]

It has light leaks and other issues but they can create artistic effects. *weltengang is all about the Holga, for example.

For a technically good one, I would try ebay - I don't know what your budget is like, but it looks like you might get a used Pentax SLR for less than $100. Nikon is another brand to try.

Thank you for the info. I may start with a Holga and then progress to something more advanced if I get really into it. For now I just want to take lots of pictures as a sort of vent (there is little time to vent with mail art anymore, sadly. :( )
