Sing a song of splatter,
sing a song of stain,
climbing up the ladder,
coming down again.

We can sit together
on the lowest rung -
coffee in the filter,
coffee on the tongue.

Is anything the matter?
We will start again,
with a song of splatter
and a song of stain.
A little lyric inspired by stained by Hanan :iconpartiallyhere:

Though she does not drink coffee... her deviation was coffee-friendly.

The image above my words is Hanan's and used by her kind permission.

Outrageously lovely, and absolutely sweet words. They drift so lightly! I enjoy these much. :)

Excellent work, both of you. I like that; coffee friendly.

I drink too much coffee for my own good. But that's alright, I allow myself a few small vices.

Thanks, James!
My rule is never drink more than one cup of coffee at a time.
(Cracking myself up here.)
Seriously, they do all these studies trying to prove it's bad for us and they haven't nailed it yet.

Wonderful. I like the lowest rung, particularly.

Thanks! Yeah, there's something relaxing and peaceful about the thought of the lowest rung.

You can't get lower, but you can definitely get higher when starting on the lowest rung.

Absolutely. And you're on the ladder, you know? Not sitting on the floor or the ground. Hopefully it's the right ladder.

Well, there is that. So many ladders from which to choose these days....

I just had a great mental image of a person surrounded by ladders, all leading up to who-knows-where... And voices! There are lots of voices calling down, and some are happy and some are sad but it's hard to tell exactly which ladder they're calling down from!

A circus of ladders! Either that, or a Dante-impression...!

It feels like a scene from an play... There are two characters surrounded by the ladders, hearing the voices, debating whether to climb any of the ladders... then they lie down, fall asleep... and all kinds of beings descend the ladders and stand over them shaking their heads. Angels, demons, monarchs, beggars, children...

it's admittedly an acquired taste - like picking up another language, it can be done as an adult but is not so easy...

in the meantime, have a nice :tea:

oh, tried many times in my childhood and young age.
i think i have a natural physical repulsion of the bitter taste.
one of my several "lovely" particularities, that i have to go through life with

i forgot to say thanks

i'm looking for a gallant response to "lovely" in quotation marks but am temporarily at a loss :D

many people don't like the bitterness, though it's often brewed incorrectly with bad coffee beans, i must say.

you're welcome of course
