Literature Text

Now I have been a student
in the school of loneliness;
I never missed a lesson,
an A on every test.
They had so much to teach me,
the teachers were so cool;
but now I've had enough,
I'm dropping out of school.

The teachers try to tell me
that I should not give up;
they say high marks in loneliness
will someday lead to love.
But I think they are kidding,
I followed every rule;
and now I've had enough,
I'm dropping out of school.

Yes, I may miss the teachers,
so lovely and so sweet;
sometimes when you went to class,
they'd knock you off your feet.
I studied after midnight,
I studied like a fool;
and now I've had enough,
I'm dropping out of school.
for a blues band with horns, big sax solo between stanzas two and three.
