I Met a Red Devil
I met a red devil
and said, "Tell me your name."
"My name," it replied,
"is You-Are-to-Blame."

I said, "Those are the words
I tell myself every day.
Now that I know your name,
I can send you away."

Then the red devil screamed,
but it had to depart.
And the scream echoed on
for a while in my heart.
In FlightA. pays the seven dollars for a beer,
the flight attendant takes his twenty
and says that she will bring change shortly.
He pops the top and pours the beer with care,

waits for the foam to go. With seatbelt tight
and armrest lost to someone on his right,
he can barely move. He is snug as his son
in a denim carrier on his chest all those

years ago, and as content. He is safely
out of touch, can do nothing for anyone,
nor be asked to. He can lift his plastic cup.
He can sip beer through the remaining foam.

He can lower the cup. He can do no more,
so lets himself feel no more need be done.
Alone a while, and glad to be alone -
Serenity
Slipped into sometimes,
Easily or not so easily.
Restful, yet more than rest,
Eclipse of the glare of stress.
Needed and sometimes found -
If it should draw near, it is best
To tell serenity
Yes

Interesting how collaborations work. I can see this is your oeuvre, yet with different DNA strands interpolated.
(Now how's that for a pretentious comment on a Monday morning? I'm getting irritated with the dA nag to "leave a comment" but it is inspiring me to great heights of articulateness. Not.)

That is a perfectly wonderful example of Monday morning pretentious commenting! I agree, what a nag that "leave a comment" is.

My work with different DNA... like those goats with webs in their milk from the DNA of spiders!
