Le Chateau Frontenac by RichardLeach Le Chateau Frontenac by RichardLeach
For the altered postcard project of *derkert and *jkd-kat. See [link]

This is a card of Le Château Frontenac in the city of Quebec. The alterations play off the motto of Quebec province, "Je me souviens" ("I remember") and personal associations. My wife and I honeymooned in Quebec - this card is from a visit many years later.

Paper collage with water color crayon, ink and tea. 15 cm. by 10.5 cm.

Ed, I sent it on December 21 to the info e-mail address. But then I noticed that version was not cropped correctly. I just sent it again to the edvard address, with a better crop. It's 1000 pixels wide. --R

that was live in person - but the card was not - i had absent-mindedly mailed it to Ed before showing it to her! had to show her the image in my gallery.

Thanks very much. I usually don't say that much in comments, I like to leave the pieces open to whatever viewers receive from them. In this case the piece came from the ideas I mention so much that I thought I should share them. Different takes are good, though. :)

Thank you, Steve! I wasn't sure where to stop with this one - that layering and distressing could go on and on - but the reactions I'm getting tell me I picked the right place. Or at least "a" right place. Appreciated!

we were there last about ten years ago i think. a wonderful spirit in the city - some kids from a dental school were walking around the streets singing songs and performing for people. after being in the city we drove north on the St. Lawrence - incredibly beautiful - and took a whale watching cruise. the whole trip was great.

i love everything except the pink rabbit and the mauve word " Quebec"

:iconrichardleach:
RichardLeach Featured By Owner Dec 20, 2009   Traditional Artist
Thanks. Well, the word "Quebec" is the post card's fault, but I am to blame for the rabbit. the rabbit comes from advertising for a battery that goes on and on and on - so it relates to memory - that may not make it look nicer, but that's why it's there.
