I went to see my doctor
and I told him I was blue.
I went to see my doctor
and I told him I was blue.
He said, "Show me someone who isn't,
and I'll see what I can do."

I went to hear the preacher
and he told me to be good.
I went to hear the preacher
and he told me to be good.
But the blues will pull you under
when you're doing what you should.

I went to see a lawyer
and he showed me where to sign.
I went to see a lawyer
and he showed me where to sign.
But there were two names on the paper -
the blues was there right next to mine.

I came home to my baby
and she offered me some pie.
I came home to my baby
and she offered me some pie.
I told the blues, "I'll see you later –
why don't you come back in July?"
Blues for late spring.

Aw, thanks. The writing side of my brain apparently stole the pie from the collaging side!

life = blues, no?
life = joy, too.
not mutually exclusive, oddly enough.

aw, thanks very much, dear. well - i have found that the blues cannot be done away with - but they can be dealt with, at least to some extent. "treated" as you say, good word for it.

It's true; "any time is a good time for pie." Think I might have pushed those blues a little further down the road, maybe past July. Of course, that might mean a lot more pie.

Putting off the blues is like stretching a rubber band, you don't want to go too far!

super sir! btw - what kind of pie was it? not that it really matters. unless it was blueberry. i can see how that might not help at all.

oh, the nostalgia... i haven't been to maine since the mid 1980s.
you're just a stone's throw from southern maine, though, sweet.
my favorite place on the coast was always acadia national park.
