I am so brittle I could crack
and fall in pieces at your feet.
Sweep me off into the corner -
all I want to do is sleep.

I am so hollow I could melt
into a smaller puddle than
you might expect to see.
No need to step on me -
I only want to sleep.

Is there a code I have to crack,
is there a solid I should melt?
Give me the key and raise the heat -
let me sleep!
Inspired by crack, melt, sleep by Hanan :iconpartiallyhere:

Yes, but what was there before the big bang was like that, small, fragile and tiny, and it ended up filling the whole universe.

Those first two stanzas...wow. I feel them completely, but then you turned the whole thing on its head with that last stanza. Nicely done.

Made me think of this song.. And I'm glad it did. I've always thought a lot of those lyrics.

Cold wind blows on the soles of my feet
Heaven knows nothing of me
I'm lost nowhere to go
Oh when I was a kid oh how magic it seemed
Oh please let me sleep it's Christmas time
Flowered winds was where I lived
Thought you burned not froze for your sins
Oh I'm so tired and cold
Oh when I was a kid oh how magic it seemed
Oh please let me sleep it's Christmas time

(Let Me Sleep--Pearl Jam)

Fine writing.

:aww: Thanks very much, and for those excellent lyrics too - I don't know the song but I can "hear" Eddie Vedder singing it!

Good man.. Mr. Vedder knows how to make songs our own memories.
And that'd be what this poem did, also.
You are very welcome!

I especially like the imagery in the first two stanzas -- and I fully understand the sentiment behind all three!

Thanks and I hear you! Sleep is to a good day like the right shoes are to an outfit.

As much depth in this poem as on Hanan's image. Really good!
